Shoulder Instability

October 17, 2019

Chronic shoulder instability can have multiple causes but is commonly seen in hypermobile patients who have loose ligaments around the shoulder. In some cases it could be caused by trauma to the shoulder in an accident or by repetitive use such as swimmers who competed and trained heavily from young. Shoulder instability can lead to chronic shoulder pain as well as repeated shoulder dislocation. The condition is mostly treated with non-surgical methods that focus heavily on strengthening the muscles around the shoulder joint and activity modification. If you have shoulder instability, the earlier the intervention the better as this can prevent major injuries in the future.
