He returned to Trinidad and worked at POSGH in various disciplines before moving to St. Clair Medical Center as an Emergency Room Medical Officer. In this placement, he has had the fortune of interacting and working alongside a wide range of Internal Medicine Sub-Specialists in the fields of Endocrinology, Pulmonology, Nephrology, Cardiology, Neurology, Gastroenterology and Rheumatology primarily pertaining to Emergency Room admissions.
He has further benefited in this regard by keenly following up on and participating in the management of Inpatients admitted through the Emergency Room. He has been exposed to Acute/Emergency Management in virtually all other Specialties and Sub-Specialties including General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Urology, Oro-Maxillo-Facial Surgery, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Ear, Nose & Throat Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Paediatrics which has provided for the development of a very well-rounded and holistic approach to his practice of Medicine.
His involvement in General Practice (6 days per week) has added to this range of experience by allowing exposure to a more measured pace of providing primary and secondary level medical care, in the settings of the office, the hospital and the home environment.
Dr Rahman's involvement in performing Executive Health Profiles (between 6 and 10 Executive Profiles per week) both in his own practice and for Medcorp Ltd, since 1999, has provided excellent experience in the detection of sub-clinical medical pathologies and in the devising and planning of preventative health strategies unique to each individual assessed.
Dr Rahman's Introductory and Advanced Hyperbaric and Undersea Medicine training provides the pertinent medical and operational knowledge and skills needed to evaluate, treat and supervise recompression therapy of diving accidents, diving or chamber operations (in the field or hospital based multi or dual place chambers), the performance of medical assessments for the certification of fitness to dive and prescribing and supervising Out-Patient Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy for patients with specific medical conditions for which HBO Therapy is indicated.
