The Fracture and Orthopaedic Clinic was founded in 2003 with the official merger of the practices of Drs. Derrick Lousaing FRCS Ed., and Godfrey Araujo FRCES Ed, Glasg. The formation of the Clinic was a natural step for the two surgeons, who shared offices on Pembroke Street for seven years. Their vision was to establish a modern and efficient group practice focussed on total orthopaedic care. In 2004, they commenced occupancy at their current location at 29A St. Clair Avenue. In the same year, Dr. Ahmad H. Rahman MBBS joined the Fracture and Orthopaedic team to manage the General Practice arm of the Clinic.
The Clinic continues to pioneer orthopaedic care in the Caribbean by offering a host of world-class in-house ancillary services that complement our general orthopaedic care practice. This makes The Fracture and Orthopaedic Clinic a true “one stop shop” for patients suffering from bone and joint issues, caring for them through a seamless process that starts with consultation and ends with rehabilitation.
Our team of orthopaedic surgeons are some of the most experienced in the region, with over 80 years of combined experience. Additionally, we collaborate with senior specialists in other sub-specialty areas to offer the best care to our patients and maximise their return to normal functioning. These include other local and internationally based orthopaedic surgeons, plastic surgeons and neurosurgeons.
Our patients have access to a host of scans, tests and other diagnostic tools such as ECG and Nerve Conduction Testing, all within the same purpose-built complex. In-house blood tests and other specimens are carried out in collaboration with the only ISO 9001 certified lab in this country. The Clinic also houses a server based digital X-ray facility and musculo-skeletal ultrasound service, as well as an extremity MRI service at its sister company Tri-Med, located within the same complex.
In line with our vision to provide total orthopaedic care, we provide a range of treatment and care options to our patients, ranging from collaborative work with top physical and occupational therapists, to adjunctive treatments for chronic issues and surgery.
Through our sister company, Joint-Med, we also make available custom fitted orthopaedic accessories as required by our patients.
