Total Orthopaedic Care Under One Roof
Founded in 2003, The Fracture and Orthopaedic Clinic emerged from the merger of the practices of Dr. Derrick Lousaing FRCS (Ed.) and Dr. Godfrey Araujo FRCSEd (Glasg.), who shared offices on Pembroke Street for seven years prior. United by a shared vision, the surgeons set out to establish a modern, efficient group practice focused on delivering comprehensive Orthopaedic care. In 2004, the Clinic relocated to its current purpose-built facility at 29A St. Clair Avenue, Port of Spain. That same year, Dr. Ahmad H. Rahman MBBS joined the team to lead the General Practice arm of the Clinic.
Today, The Fracture and Orthopaedic Clinic continues to advance orthopaedic care in Trinidad and Tobago through a coordinated, patient-centred model that brings together orthopaedic surgeons, a neurosurgeon, and a general practitioner under one roof. This collaborative approach allows patients to receive well-rounded care for bone, joint, spine, nerve, and related medical concerns—supporting accurate diagnosis, clear treatment planning, and seamless continuity of care.
Consultation
Our Orthopaedic Surgeons are among the most experienced in the region, with over 80 years of combined clinical experience. We also collaborate with senior specialists across key sub-specialties, including Neurosurgery and plastic surgery, both locally and internationally, to ensure patients receive the most appropriate and effective care and are supported in their return to optimal function.
Diagnostics
Within our purpose-built complex, patients have access to essential diagnostic services that support timely and informed clinical decision-making. These include digital X-rays, musculoskeletal ultrasound, ECGs, blood tests, and digital foot pressure analysis. In-house laboratory services are carried out in collaboration with the country’s only ISO 9001–certified laboratory, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and efficiency.
Treatment & Rehabilitation
In keeping with our vision of total orthopaedic care, we offer a wide range of treatment options tailored to each patient’s needs. These include conservative management, collaborative rehabilitation planning, adjunctive treatments for chronic conditions, and surgical care where indicated. We work closely with some of the country’s most experienced physical and occupational therapists, ensuring a smooth transition from treatment to rehabilitation.
Patients requiring orthopaedic supports such as braces, splints, and collars can conveniently access these through our sister company, Medical Innovations, also located within the same complex.
Insurance & Patient Benefits
To make care more accessible, we accept insurance cards for Sagicor (CariCare), Guardian Group (EasiClaim), and Cardea. We also offer discounted services for TTARP card holders, UNIMED members, and T&TUTA members.
By integrating specialist expertise, diagnostics, rehabilitation support, and patient-friendly payment options in one location, Fracture and Orthopaedic Clinic delivers high-quality, efficient care—so patients spend less time navigating the healthcare system and more time moving forward.
